Personal:Sandy Smith is honored as an outstanding basketball player at Winston-Salem State University. He led the Rams in scoring in 1971 and 1973. He was selected as an All-CIAA performer for three consecutive years and named a Sporting News All-American in 1972 and 1973. He finished his career as the tenth leading scorer in Ram basketball history. He graduated in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology. He has served as Head Basketball Coach and Assistant Director of Athletics at Columbia Union College following his graduation.
