Personal:Brenda Winfield is honored as an outstanding basketball player. She helped lead the Lady Rams to consecutive CIAA Southern Division Championships in 1978 and 1979. She was selected to the 1979 CIAA All-Tournament Team and led the Lady Rams in scoring during the same year. She was also selected to the All-Tournament Team at the 1979 Georgia Invitational Tournament. She was named to the All-CIAA women's basketball team in 1980. She was known for her excellent shooting form and technique. Coach Clarence E. "Big House" Gaines would take her to various clinics to demonstrate her shooting form during his coaching days at WSSU. She was a member of the tennis and softball teams at Winston-Salem State University as well.
