Reports to training camp as the Rams' opening-day punter and placekicker...Is one of very few WSSU players whose starting slot is not in question...Is expected to have another stellar season where he is an All-America and Academic All-America candidate.

2006: Started all 11 games as the team's punter and placekicker ... Led the team in punting with 2,277 yards with an average of 43.0 yards per punt ... His longest was a 55-yard punt at Catawba ... Totaled 11 touchbacks and placed nine punts inside the 20-yard line ... Also added kickoff duties totaling 2,443 yards with a 59.6 yard average ... Had eight touchbacks with just one going out-of-bounds ... Was also great on field goals connecting on five-of-six field goals ... hit a season-long 48-yard field goal at Savannah State.

2005: Appeared in, and started, one games for the Rams as a leg injury that required surgery allowed him to play in only the season opener...Granted an NCAA medical redshirt season which will allow him to return for his senior season in 2006...Recorded nine punts on the year for 323 yards and an average of 35.9 yards per kick...Tallied a long punt of 46 yards...Recorded one touch back and pinned his opponents inside their own 20-yard line once.

2004: Fell just short of All-CIAA honors as he recorded 52 punts on the year, taking every kick of the 2004 season...Booted 52 kicks for 1,876 yards for an average of 36.1 yards per kick...Had a long punt of 67 yards versus Saint Augustine's College on October 30, 2005, marking the longest punt in WSSU history (at the time)...Placed 15 of his 52 kicks inside the opponent's 20-yard line with four touchbacks and six fair-catches...Had only one block on the season coming versus Fayetteville State University on October 2, 2004, yet he promptly responded with a touchback on his very next punt...Placed third in the CIAA in punting with a 36.2 yards per punt average, trailing leader Kevin Dodson from Elizabeth City State by only 1.4 yards per kick...Oakley owns every WSSU punting record since punting was kept as a statistic starting in the 1986 season...Was named CIAA Specialty Teams Player of the Week once.

2003: Named Pre-Season All-CIAA as a punter...Led the Rams in punting, taking all but one punt on the season (his brother Ashton kicked a single punt)...Tallied 37 punts for 1,373 yards en route to an average of 37.1 yards per punt...Had a long punt of 55 yards...Recorded three touchbacks and pinned opponents inside their own 20-yard line a CIAA-best nine times...Had only one punt blocked (at Virginia Union on September 27, 2003)...Eclipsed the 200-yard mark in two games as he recorded 221 yards punting versus Fayetteville State (October 11) and 224 yards punting versus Livingstone (October 18)...Had two touchbacks and pinned the Blue Bears inside their 20-yard line twice out of six punts at Livingstone on October 18...Had kicks of 50-plus yards twice (at Fort Valley State and versus Johnson C. Smith).

2002: Was the starting punter for the Rams as a true freshman after a stellar career at Eastern Randolph High School...Recorded a CIAA-best 38.3 yards per punt average as he tallied 1,686 yards on 44 punts with a long of 55 yards...Recorded six touchbacks, five fair catches, and pinned opponents inside their 20-yard line a CIAA-best 11 times...Had only two kicks blocked...Named CIAA Specialty Teams Player of the Week twice...Named to the All-CIAA Second Team as a punter...Named to the CIAA All-Rookie Team.

Personal: The 2006 season was Oakley's final season as the Rams' starting punter following a medical redshirt season in 2005...Will take over the place-kicking duties left behind by his brother Ashton a two-time All-CIAA selection following his graduation in May of 2004 and following the departure of back-up placekciker Matt Hind who exhausted his eligibility in 2005...Chad has started every year as the Rams' punter earning First-Team All-CIAA honors in 2004, and Second-Team All-CIAA honors in 2002 as a true freshman en route to All-Rookie Team honors...A native of Haw River, NC he is a 2002 graduate of Eastern Randolph High School where he was a participant in the Shrine Bowl his senior season and was a member of the prestigious Beta Club for his work in the classroom...The son of Richard and Gwen Oakley...An Exercise Science major at WSSU...Born in Burlington, NC on September 2, 1983...Nicknamed "Oak"...Named to the 2004 Preseason All-CIAA Team.
