Final Stats

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The Seahawks of UNC-Wilmington handed the Winston-Salem State men's tennis team a 7-0 loss on Monday afternoon as the Rams dropped to 1-13 on the season, while the Seahawks picked up their fifth win of the year to improve their record to 5-4.

UNC-Wilmington swept the doubles matches to take a quick 1-0 lead and continued its success in singles. At No. 1 Michael Pereira defeated Brian Coxton, 6-2, 6-1; at No. 2 Gustavo Bertei defeated Maximilian Glodde 6-1, 6-3; and at third singles Kinshuk Sharma allowed only one game to Ryan Lindquist in a 6-1, 6-0 win.

Alex Weatherall shutout Troy Moore in 6-0 straight sets at spot four, while Alex Antunes defeated Ian Hunter 6-1, 6-0 in the five spot.  The Rams' Andrew Jones fell to Michael Zurawell 6-0, 6-2 at sixth singles to round out the UNCW sweep.

The WSSU men's tennis team returns to action on Wednesday, March 5 as they travel to Greenville, N.C. to face the Pirates of East Carolina University at 5:00 pm.
