WSSU Men's Tennis Falls At East Carolina, 7-0 :: Rams drop third consecutive match with the loss

GREENVILLE, NC - The Winston-Salem State University men's tennis team, playing in their fourth match in seven days, dropped their third consecutive contest as they fell in defeat to the East Carolina University Pirates by the score of 7-0 on Wednesday evening in Greenville, NC.

The Pirates quickly clinched the win by outscoring the Rams 24-0 in three doubles wins and posting 12 straight-set singles victories.

Henrik Skalmerud (No. 1), Bryan Oakley (No. 2), Matt Peeler (No. 3), David Masciorini (No. 4), Mike Catalano (No. 5) and Greg Simon (No. 6) combined to post a 72-11 ledger to help ECU cruise past WSSU in convincing fashion as only Brian Coxton and Andrew Jones would earn multiple points for the Rams in the singles action.

The Rams drop to 1-14 overall with the loss while the Pirates improve to 9-6 on the season with the victory.

WSSU returns to action on Friday, March 7, 2008 at 3:30 p.m. when they travel to Greensboro, N.C. to face UNC-Greensboro in non-conference tennis action.
