Personal: The 2007-08 season marks Koech's third year as a member of the WSSU men's track and field team where he will compete in the 5000 meters and 18k. A native of Litein, Kenya, he is a 2002 graduate of Chebisaas Boy's School in Eldoret, Kenya where he was the Chebisass Boy's School cross-country Athlete of the Year award winner en route to being awarded the Kenya Athletic Association Certificate. The son of Philip and Linner Birir, he is a Nursing major at WSSU. Born in Kericho, Kenya on March 7, 1984. Turned in a personal best of 16:00 in the 5000 meters at Creighton University and a personal best of 27:20 in the 8km run at the same event.
