Rams Sprinters Strong on Day One of Virginia Tech Challenge

WSSU gets fast start to final indoor meet of the season

BLACKSBURG, VA - The Winston-Salem State Rams sprinters took center stage on day one of the Virginia Tech Challenge with some solid performances against some of the top competition in the nation. The Rams faced off against teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference, Conference USA, the Colonial Athletic Association, the Big South, and the CIAA, among others.

 

WSSU senior Gerrod Sidbury had the best overall finish of the day for the Rams placing eighth in the men's 600m run in a time of 1:22.93. Junior sprinter Richard Marcellus placed 30th in the men's 200m dash with a 22.29 as well. Sophomore Brandon Howe finished 50th in the event with a time of 22:78.

 

The Rams will return to action tomorrow to finish out the two-day event.
