TALLAHASSEE, FL - The Winston-Salem State Rams track & field team got the 2008 outdoor season off to a strong starter, powered by some great efforts by the Rams' distance and middle distance runners. The Rams placed a pair of top ten finishes in distance and middle distance events to cap a great overall performance on day two of the 58th Annual Florida A&M Relays.
WSSU senior Kenneth Keoch had the top finish for the Rams with a 7th place finish in the men's 1500m run with a time of 4:23.77 in the event. Not to be outdone by the senior WSSU freshman Cornell Jones had a solid day as well finishing eighth in the men's 800m run in a time of 2:09.06 in the event.
The Rams also added a pair of strong performances in the men's 400m dash as well with WSSU senior Gerrod Sidbury finishing 11th in the event in a time of 52.96. Close to him was WSSU junior Richard Marcellus, who finished 13th in the event in a time of 53.01.
The WSSU sprint relay team also had a strong showing on the day placing fifth in the men's 4x100m relay in a time of 44.01. The squad left behind teams from
