Results

CONWAY, SC - Only a few Rams and Lady Rams took the field on opening day of the 2008 Coastal Carolina Invitational track meet, Friday afternoon. The meet only featured six events on the first day of the two-day meet.

WSSU senior distance runner Irene Jeptolo had the best overall finish of the day placing 16^th in the women's 3000m run in a time of 10:43.50. She placed in the top 20 of the field of 48 runners which featured teams from The Citadel, Georgia Southern, the College of Charleston, and East Carolina among others.

The Lady Rams also took part in the women's javelin throw with WSSU freshman Persha Lane finishing 36^th with a distance of 16.77m. Sophomore Christina Carter finished 37^th with a distance of 16.58m in the event.

WSSU senior distance runner Kenneth Koech was the only Rams runner to compete on day one of the event, placing 27^th in the men's 3000m run. He finished the event in a time of 9:33.02 in the event.

The Rams and Lady Rams will return to action on Saturday when they take part in day two of the event. The opening event of the day is scheduled for a 9:00 a.m. start.
