GREENSBORO, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams softball team needed only five innings to ground the Hawks of the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore on Friday afternoon as they cruised to a 10-0 shutout victory in opening-round action of the 2008 North Carolina A&T Lady Aggies Softball Invitational from the Aggie Softball Complex in Greensboro, NC.
WSSU's Amber Shore pitched her fourth complete game of the season as she improved her overall record to 3-2 on the season with the complete-game victory.
Shore and the Lady Rams improve to 6-5 overall on the season and win their first game away from home in the process. UMES falls to 0-1 on the season with the loss.
Winston-Salem State University returns to action at 12:00 pm on Saturday as they face the Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State University in second-round tournament action.
