GREENSBORO, NC - The North Carolina A&T State University Aggies softball team used a pair of two-run innings to hand the Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams a 6-2 loss in the final game of second-day action from the 2008 NC A&T Lady Aggies Softball Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Greensboro, NC.

The Aggies tallied a pair of runs in both the top of the third inning and the top of the seventh innings en route to the four-run victory in the first of four meetings between the two teams in 2007-08.

After falling behind 1-0 to the Aggies in the first inning, WSSU tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the second inning when Brittany Hull tripled to left center field and scored Lonnie Jones for her first of two RBI's in the game.

Hull would again earn the Lady Rams a run in the bottom of the fourth inning as she drilled a shot into the hole in the left side of the infield that enabled Devyn Gillete to score from third base for the second, and final, WSSU run of the game.

For the Aggies, Jessie Larson drove in a pair of runs in the contest as she was one of five Aggie players to record hits in the game and was the lone N.C. A&T player to record multiple RBI's.

Despite a strong showing from WSSU ace Desiree Ramirez who scattered seven N.C. A&T hits and struck out four Aggies, the Lady Rams were not able to record enough run support for Ramirez who fell to 1-3 on the season with the loss.

Earning the win for the Aggies was Jennifer Luper who pitched a complete-game four-hitter with seven strikeouts for her third win of the season.  With the victory Luper improves to 3-2 on the season.

WSSU falls to 6-7 overall with the loss while the Aggies move to 7-2 on the season with the victory.  The Lady Rams return to action in the third place game of the tournament versus UMES at 10:00 am on Sunday while the Aggies face Mississippi Valley State at 12:00 pm in the title contest.
