Shore retired the UMES side and allowed no baserunners for four innings before walking two batters and hitting a third in the top of the fifth inning before closing out her 8-0 shutout victory with a strikeout as she improved her overall record to 4-2 in 2007-08.
Shore retired nine UMES batters on strikes and faced only 17 total batters in the contest, two more than the minimum number of 15 batters for a five inning contest.
The Lady Rams would give Shore all the run support that she would need in the first inning as
WSSU recorded five hits to open the game before UMES was able to retire their first WSSU batter. The Lady Rams benefited from three Lady Hawk errors in the inning as WSSU finished the inning with seven runs on five hits.
Leading the way for the Lady Rams was Kendall Sutton who tallied three hits on the day. Sutton was joined by Brittany Hall and Devyn Gillette with two his each as three WSSU players recorded multiple-hits in the contest.
Shore earned the win for WSSU as she improved to 4-2 on the season. Bonnie Heineken was saddled with the loss for UMES as she fell to 0-3 on the season overall.
WSSU improves to 7-7 overall with the win while UMES falls to 0-4 on the season with the loss.
