Lady Rams Heading South to Face Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M

Oct. 25, 2007

DAYTONA BEACH, FL - The road gets a little longer for the Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (4-20) as the team heads south to take on the Bethune-Cookman Lady Wildcats and the Florida A&M Lady Rattlers. The Lady Rams will look for a bit of payback when they take on two teams that took wins over the team in Winston-Salem, NC.

The Lady Rams will head into the matches on a down note as the team has taken road losses at USC-Upstate, Wofford, and North Carolina Central. The Lady Rams have struggled mightily falling by scores of 3-0, 3-1, and 3-0 on the road. Most recently, the Lady Rams fell to the North Carolina Central Eagles, 25-30, 16-30, and 14-30.

The team's tandem of sophomore hitter Annika Barnwell and freshman Ashley Harris have combined for 366 of the team's 769 kills. The duo accounts for 47% of the Lady Rams' offense and will need some solid play when they take on the top two teams in the MEAC Southern Division. Currently, the Lady Rattlers are 5-0 in the MEAC, extending their streak of conference wins to 99 matches with a 3-0 win over Bethune-Cookman on October 23rd, play and 9-5 overall.  The Lady Wildcats are 3-2 in conference play and 6-10 overall.

The Lady Rams will face the Wildcats on Friday evening in a 7:00 p.m. match followed by a 2:00 p.m. match at Florida A&M on Saturday.
